WATCH: Highlights of new Georgia commit Cortez Smith
Georgia picked up another commitment on Saturday and this one has been in the works for awhile. Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) offensive lineman Cortez Smith picked the Bulldogs over Miami, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and dozens of other programs, becoming UGA’s 21st commitment in the class.
At 6-foot-3 315 pounds, Smith is ranked as the nation’s No. 157 overall prospect and the No. 11 interior offensive lineman in America per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He’s the No. 21 overall prospect in Georgia. A look at Smith’s highlights will explain why he’s rated highly and why the Bulldogs made him a priority target.
As the highlights show, Smith has played multiple positions during his high school career. He has worked primarily at offensive tackle and center to this point in his development but has also seen some action at guard.
Smith becomes Georgia’s third offensive line pledge in the current class with all three players set to play on the interior. Four-star prospects Mason Short (Evans; Evans, Ga.) and Dontrell Glover (Langston Hughes; Fairburn, Ga.) were part of Georgia’s class prior to today. Both were Alabama pledges but re-opened their recruitments after Nick Saban retired. Short and Glover project as guard prospects while Short projects as a center in AThens.

With Smith in the fold, Georgia is likely done with interior-only offensive linemen in the 2025 class. It’s focus will now turn to adding players who fit the bill at offensive tackle, a list that includes five-star prospect David Sanders (Charlotte, N.C.), Damola Ajidahun (Duluth, Ga.) and Nick Brooks (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).
Georgia inked seven offensive linemen in the 2024 class with six of them projecting as potential offensive tackles at the next level. The Bulldogs recently added to that class with signing of 6-foot-10 340-pound ex-basketball standout Jahzare Jackson.
