Eight Georgia players were drafted over the weekend, having their lifelong dream of playing professional football come true. Ranging from first round picks like Brock Bowers and Amarius Mims to guys that had to wait a little longer like Sedrick Van Pran and Zion Logue, the Bulldogs that came off the board give you a picture of it all when it comes to the NFL Draft.

DawgsHQ has compiled for you the moment five of the eight players received their calls from their respective teams with general managers and head coaches sharing the good news with them. It’s always an emotional moment to look back on as the curtain gets peeled back to reveal a side of the football players that’s not seen on the field.

NOTE: Not all teams make their draft calls available, and at time of publication, calls for Brock Bowers, Javon Bullard and Sedrick Van Pran were not available

Amarius MimsCincinnati Bengals – 1st Round

Mims is off to Cincinnati where he’ll join an explosive Bengals offense led by Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and others. A first round pick, expectations are high for what the future holds for Mims. However, the Bengals do have a pair of veteran offensive tackles that should give him a chance to sit back and learn the ropes of the NFL before being thrown into the fire.

Ladd McConkeyLos Angeles Chargers – 2nd Round

The first round saw a run on wide receivers late, and that continued into the second round as McConkey was the second pick of day two. Headed west to Los Angeles, he’ll be part of the new regime that’s with the Chargers including first year head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Kamari LassiterHouston Texans – 2nd Round

The Texans didn’t pick in the first round, so Lassiter represents their first selection of the draft. Off the board early in the second round, it’s not out of the question that he steps in and makes an immediate impact on one of the youngest teams in the NFL with their defensive minded head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Tykee SmithTampa Bay Buccaneers – 3rd Round

Smith should already know Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles, and the draft call certainly makes it sound like they do. Todd’s son Troy was a member of the Georgia defense with Smith this past season in Athens as a freshman linebacker.

Zion LogueAtlanta Falcons – 6th Round

Logue won’t have to go too far to play for the Falcons. After taking his talents to Georgia from Tennessee, Atlanta is just down the road from Athens and is a place where the Bulldog is likely to have a few fans.
