WATCH: Highlights of new Georgia DL commit Valdin Sone

The Georgia Bulldogs are back on the board with another major get for the Class of 2026, and this time, it’s elite defensive lineman Valdin Sone who’s pledged his services for the upcoming cycle.

A four-star prospect and the No. 130 overall player in the Rivals Industry Ranking, Sone becomes the thirtieth member of the Class of 2026 for Kirby Smart and company. He ranks as the nation’s No. 15 defensive lineman in the class, as well as the No. 4 prospect in the state of Virginia per the Industry Ranking.

Sone, who plays his high school ball at Dyke, Virginia’s Blue Ridge School, originally hails from Sweden.

When turning on the tape, it’s no surprise why the Bulldogs pressed for his services against the likes of Florida, Auburn, and Nebraska. Sone’s almost 6-foot-4, 320 pound frame is ready-built for the next level, and his film showcases a skillset that looks to be quite similarly prepared. He showcases immense power, the ability to get off of blocks with ease, speed to disrupt in the backfield, and the commanding of double teams with regularity.

Sone has paid close attention to how the Bulldogs have handled those who’ve manned his position over the years, which ended up being a deciding factor for him in the end.

“Coach Kirby (Smart). He has the heart of the defense. He loves the defense,” Sone told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong earlier this year. “Me as a defensive player I’d love to go to a school that values defense the most. Georgia they put great guys in the NFL like Jordan Davis. I kind of idolize Jordan Davis. He has a great style of play for that position. He’s mastered that position.”

Georgia will now turn its defensive line attention to close-to-home prospect Anthony Lonon, who’s quickly risen up the boards over the summer camp season.
