WATCH: New Georgia safety commit Tyriq Green highlights

The Georgia Bulldogs continued to add to an incredibly stacked defensive back class for the 2026 cycle, with four-star safety Tyriq Green announcing his pledge to the Dawgs on Saturday afternoon.
A standout from Buford, Georgia’s Buford High, Green brings the trademark physicality that Dawgs covet in the deep field, as well as impressive speed to spare. In addition to his word in the defense, Green also holds down the running back duties for the Wolves and has the wheels to take it the distance each time he touches the ball.
Will he factor in at the STAR position for the Bulldogs or end up filling the shoes of fellow former Buford safety KJ Bolden one day? That remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that Green, who’s seen head coach Kirby Smart take a deeply vested interest in his recruitment, will have the opportunity to dole out punishment for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs made that a key focus of their pursuit throughout, reminding Green of how his skillset can fit in well with what they do on the backend.

“I talked to Coach Kirby [Smart] and Coach T-Rob [Travaris Robinson] after practice. They talked about watching my film and loved how I fly around and have a nose for the ball and am not afraid of contact,” Green said following a visit to Athens in the spring of 2024.
But it was about more than just what he could do in Athens in the end.
“Going up there every time, my relationship keeps getting stronger. It’s like a family relationship. I’m comfortable around there,” Green told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson in March of this year. “…I’m a big relationship guy, so I have to be comfortable where I am. At Georgia, I’m very comfortable there. Going around and seeing what my other options are and how I feel about them is what I need to do.”
Tyriq Green is the twenty-eighth commit of the Class of 2026.
