Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch has been a part of some of college football’s biggest rivalries already. He’s played in USC vs Notre Dame.

Branch has starred in USC vs UCLA and USC and Michigan. Branch got his first dip into Georgia vs Tennessee last week. The Alabama vs. Georgia match-up is something new for Branch.

He’s heard about what it means. Branch was watching the game on television last year. The passion left its mark on the former USC Trojan.

“I definitely saw the atmosphere and, you know, the passion of the guys playing in the game on both sides of the ball, and I saw how much it really meant to both teams,” Branch told reporters on Monday. “So, just taking that fire and taking that energy that we had going into the season, you know, going to chance to go out there at Sanford Stadium and make something happen.”

The history and the energy around Saturday’s match-up are exciting for Branch.

“It’s a great traditional game,” Branch told reporters. “There’s a lot of history between the two teams. I’m just blessed for the opportunity to be able to wear that G, and go out there with my teammates, and go out there and have fun. I know the atmosphere is going to be pretty crazy, feeling the support from the fans and everybody. So I’m really excited for this atmosphere and this opportunity.”

Star WR looks at rivalries as ‘different’

Branch did not want to compare the rivalries he’s been in. He doesn’t see one better or worse. They’re different. He did acknowledge that they have a bit of a life of their own.

“It’s always different at certain schools and things like that,” Branch said. “You know, the tradition at different schools is different. But, you know, it’s a great opportunity to go, get a chance to play in that Notre Dame game. Also, UCLA and USC is a great traditional game as well. So, I’ve played in some rivalry games for a couple of years. So, I’m excited for this one. It’s going to be a good one.”

Zachariah Branch a key piece of Georgia’s offense

Branch is looking forward to an opportunity to put his stamp on the Georgia and Alabama rivalry. He’s been an impact player for Georgia so far this fall. He’s caught 11 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns.
