Borud is going to be a Hawkeye

“I was offered a preferred walk-on and I’m excited for the opportunity,” Borud told HawkeyeReport.com. “I’m ready to compete.”
An Iowa native, Borud graduated from Southeast Polk High School and earned second-team freshman All-American honors after starting 12 games at center for North Dakota last season. He has three years of eligiblity remaining.

Borud impact for Iowa
For the Hawkeyes, Borud will provide additional depth on the interior of the offensive line, especially at center. Logan Jones and Tyler Elsbury return this season with starting experience, but both are seniors so the competition should be wide open next year with Leighton Jones, Jeremy Chaplin, Josh Janowski, and others.
Also, with Borud on the roster this year, it may allow Iowa to give Elsbury more of a look at guard without worrying about taking their backup center out of the equation.
