BOX SCORE RECAP: Hawkeyes fall to Iowa State in Ames
The Hawkeyes suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday night in Ames, falling to the 10th-ranked Cyclones 74-69 at Hilton Coliseum. With the loss, Iowa falls to 9-1 on the season, while it snaps a three-game winning streak for the Hawkeyes in the series.
It was a back-and-forth first quarter, with ISU getting out to a 17-12 lead. The Hawkeyes answered with an 11-2 run, including a Kylie Feuerbach three at the buzzer to make it 23-19 Iowa after ten minutes. Scoring subsided for long stretch in the second quarter, with Iowa going 6:08 without a point. ISU built a 33-26 lead, but the Hawkeyes closed the half on a 9-2 run to send it to the locker room tied 35-35. The third quarter was the game-changer, with the Cyclones outscoring Iowa 26-13 to take a 13-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Hawkeyes rallied in the fourth quarter coming within 72-69 in the final minute, but they couldn’t complete the comeback.
Iowa scored 69 points on 67 possessions (1.030 points per possession), while shooting 27-of-63 (42.9%) from the floor, 9-of-24 (37.5%) from three-point range and 6-of-12 (50.0%) from the free throw line. Chit-Chat Wright led the Hawkeyes in scoring with a season-high 21 points, while Hannah Stuelke finished with a double-double 10 points and 15 rebounds. Taylor McCabe (11) and Kylie Feuerbach also scored in double figures (10).

Iowa State scored 74 points on 66 possessions (1.121 points per possession), while shooting 30-of-57 (52.6%) from the floor, 5-of-15 (33.3%) from three-point range and 9-of-20 (45.0%) from the free throw line. Audi Crooks finished with a double-double 30 points and ten rebounds, while Jada Williams added a double-double with 11 points and 12 assists. Addy Brown also had a double-double 20 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cyclones outrebounded the Hawkeyes 39-32, pulling down 23-of-32 (71.9%) defensive rebounds and 9-of-39 (23.1%) offensive rebounds. The turnover battle went in favor of the Hawkeyes, turning it over just nine times, while Iowa State turned it over 12 times. Iowa State outscored the Hawkeyes 19-11 in points off turnovers/second chance points.
