Q: When do you move to Iowa City and what is your excitement level like for that move in day?

CAMPBELL: I will officially be in Iowa City on August 17th. I am really excited to get on campus and take the next steps in my academic and athletic career.

Q: What number do you plan to wear and why?

CAMPBELL: I plan on wearing number 16 if available of course. For my friend who passed away 3 years ago.

Q: You were a three-time All-CCL selection, what did it mean to you to be honored not once or twice, but three times for your efforts on the field?

CAMPBELL: It meant a lot, not only to preform at a high level, but it showed I worked hard throughout my high school career.

Q: What have you been doing since the end of the high school season to prepare for when you join the team this fall?

CAMPBELL: I played in a college league in Chicago, and have made it a priority to make sure I get live at-bats in wherever and whenever I can. I have also been in the weight room and running as much as I can pretty much a daily routine.

Q: Looking back at your recruitment, what stood about the Iowa Baseball program that made them an easy choice over other schools?

CAMPBELL: Looking back through my recruiting process the Iowa baseball coaching staff stood out to me the most. They made their intentions clear and were very easy to talk to.

Q: Were there any other teams that you heavily considered during your recruitment?

CAMPBELL: I talked to a lot of schools, but Iowa was always at the top of my list.

Q: What is your relationship like with the coaching staff? Who do you talk with the most?

CAMPBELL: I would say that my relationship with the coaching staff is a good one. I really enjoy getting to know them, and cant wait to play under them. I probably talk to Coach Sutherland the most.

Q: If someone asked you “what do you bring to the Iowa Baseball team?” How would you describe your game?

CAMPBELL: I bring a lot of energy to the game of baseball, I take pride in being a good teammate and a very hard worker.

Q: What is your relationship like with the other incoming freshman? Current players?

CAMPBELL: I have a great relationship with majority of the guys coming to play next year. I cant wait to get closer and form a brotherhood.

Q: You were a three-year team captain at Montini Catholic, what do you think makes you a good leader and where or who did you get those leadership qualities from?

CAMPBELL: I think I was a good leader for Montini Catholic because I made sure to hold those accountable and make sure that the team was doing everything they were supposed to do in preparation to win games.

Q: What are your goals for your freshman season at Iowa? What areas of your game do you want to improve?

CAMPBELL: My goals for my freshman year at Iowa is to compete to play and make my teammates better along with me. I don’t think there is a certain aspect of my game that I would like to improve over the other, I just want top become the best baseball player and person that I can be.
