The Chuck Long Podcast

The Hawkeyes rallied in the fourth quarter and picked up their seventh victory of the season on Saturday, 20-17, over Michigan State. This week on the Chuck Long Podcast, the former Iowa All American quarterback dives into what he saw from Hawkeye quarterback Mark Gronowski in the first three quarters, which wasn’t great, and how he flipped the script in the fourth quarter with several great throws.
We discuss with Long what he would have done with a struggling quarterback like Gronowski? Would he have contemplated making a change at quarterback? What did he see that changed in the fourth quarter and we look at this huge throws to Jacob Gill and Reece Vander Zee.
We look at the crazy decision by the Michigan State head coach to continue to “challenge” Iowa return man Kaden Wetjen, who showed once again why he is the best return man in college football.

Also we discuss the play of the Iowa defense, particularly in the fourth quarter, when they had four straight three and outs against the Spartans offense. Plus, what do we think of icing kickers and how it really didn’t end up working against Drew Stevens at the end of the game.
Finally we look ahead to the game against Nebraska and how to handle a short week of prep for the Hawkeyes and the Huskers, who had to travel late back home from a loss at Penn State.
