The Iowa Baseball team played their second game of a three-game fall schedule on Saturday, defeating the Missouri Tigers 15-7 in 18 innings at Duane Banks Field. They are set to face Heartland CC next Friday, before wrapping up the fall with the Black & Gold World Series.

At the plate, the Hawkeyes put up 15 runs on 24 hits, with several players recording multi-hit nights. Shortstop Gable Mitchell led the way with four hits, while first baseman Caleb Wulf and outfielder Miles Risley each finished with three hits. Freshman pitcher and outfielder Brody Irlbeck hit a solo home run in the 16th inning. On the mound, Hawkeye pitchers were pretty impressive, allowing just seven runs on 19 hits, including 27 strikeouts to just five walks. Sophomore righthander Tyler Guerin got the start, striking out five of the six batters he faced, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings. The pitching staff held Missouri scoreless in 16 of 18 innings.

HawkeyeReport caught up with the head coach of the Hawkeyes, Rick Heller, to discuss the win over the Tigers. He gave some overall thoughts on the win, talked about the offensive production, particularly from the starters, the impressive performance from the pitching staff and what he has seen from Tyler Guerin on the mound this fall.
