Welcome (back) to the show Adam Mazur. Per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, the former Hawkeye right-hander has been recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville and will join the Miami Marlins. It is likely that Adam will get the start on the mound on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies.

“Very cool. Just excited for this opportunity,” Mazur told reporters. “I’m open to whatever. Not sure what to expect, but I’m just excited to be here.”

“Just going to go out there and compete and give these guys a chance to win. That’s the name of the game up here. Go out there, compete and give them a chance to win every single time you take the mound.”

Mazur made his MLB Debut last season with the San Diego Padres, making eight starts, posting a 7.49 ERA over 33.2 innings, including 22 strikeouts. In his first ever start against the Los Angeles Angels, Adam allowed one run on two hits over 6.0 innings.

At the end of July, the Padres traded Mazur, along with 2B Jay Beshears, LHP Robby Snelling and 3B Graham Pauley to Miami in return for LHP Tanner Scott and RHP Bryan Hoeing. He finished out the remainder of last season with Triple-A Jacksonville.

So far this season with the Jumbo Shrimp, Mazur made 12 starts, posting a 3.62 ERA over 59.2 innings, including 55 strikeouts to 16 walks. Last time out against Rochester, he allowed three runs on six hits over 4.2 innings, but tallied a career-high nine strikeouts to one walk. In his start prior against Durham, Adam allowed two runs on four hits over 6.0 innings, including eight strikeouts to one walk.
