Hawkeyes in the NFL: Week Four Top Performers

Week four of the NFL season is complete, with the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins picking up wins during the Monday Night doubleheader. 27 former Hawkeyes were on active rosters for week four, while 13 players were in the starting lineup. We take a look at the top four performances from the weekend.
1. Philadelphia CB Cooper DeJean
The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a 4-0 start this season and, once again, Cooper DeJean has been an impact player on the defensive side of the ball. In Sunday’s 31-25 win over the Buccaneers, DeJean finished with a game-high nine tackles and three passes broken up. His 80.0 PFF game grade ranked 6th-best amongst all cornerbacks during week four, while his 88.9 coverage grade ranked 5th-best.
On the season, DeJean is tied for the most tackles in the league by a corner, with 31 tackles, while he has allowed 13 completions on 20 targets for 107 yards (5.35 ypt). The Eagles will try to keep their undefeated start alive next week against the Denver Broncos.
2. Detroit LB Jack Campbell
After a season-opening loss to the Packers, the Lions have won three games in a row to keep pace in the NFC North. In Sunday’s 34-10 win over the Browns, linebacker Jack Campbell tallied a game-high 11 tackles, a career-high seven stops and one tackle for loss. The Detroit defense limited Cleveland to 249 yards on 65 plays (3.83 ypp). The Lions will look to extend their winning streak to four games next week against the Bengals.

On the season, Campbell has totaled 37 tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He is second in the NFL in stops (18), which are tackles that result in a failed play for the offense.
3. Detroit TE Sam LaPorta and Minnesota TE TJ Hockenson
Neither had particularly standout days for their respective teams, but both former Hawkeye tight ends contributed for their respective squads. In the Lions win over the Browns, Sam LaPorta finished with three catches for 39 yards. Meanwhile, over in Dublin, in the Vikings 24-21 loss to the Steelers, TJ Hockenson finished with four catches for 39 yards.
On the season, LaPorta has tallied 16 catches for 177 yards and eight first downs but is still looking to break through for his first touchdown of the season. Hockenson has caught 13 passes for 115 yards, including one touchdown and six first down receptions.
