Hawkeyes in the NFL: Week Seven Top Performers

Week seven of the NFL season is complete, with the Sam LaPorta, Jack Campbell and the Detroit Lions picking up a win over Tampa Bay on Monday Night. 27 former Hawkeyes were on active rosters for week seven, while 13 players were in the starting lineup. We take a look at the top four performances from the weekend.
1. Detroit Lions LB Jack Campbell
Another week, another Jack Campbell appearance as top performer amongst former Hawkeyes in the NFL. On Monday night, in the Lions 24-9 win over Tampa Bay, Campbell tallied eight tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and had a key pass breakout in the endzone. He has totaled at least eight tackles in every single game this season.
On the season, Campbell has tallied 64 tackles, five tackles for loss and has forced two fumbles. He has three games with 10+ tackles and is averaging 9.14 tackles per game, which has him on track for 155.4 tackles this season. His 89.0 season grade by PFF ranks him as the third-best linebacker in the NFL through five weeks.
2. Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant
It wouldn’t be a weekly article without some TEU play. On Thursday night, in the Bengals 33-31 upset win over Pittsburgh, Noah Fant caught four passes for a season-high 44 yards and a touchdown. After catching just one touchdown pass over his previous 33 games, he has caught two touchdowns this season.
On the season, Fant has caught 20 passes for 151 yards, seven first downs and two touchdowns. At his current pace, he is on track to finish with 53.3 receptions, 402.7 yards, 18.7 first downs and 5.3 touchdowns.
3. Philadelphia Eagles CB Cooper DeJean
The Eagles got back in the win column this past weekend after back-to-back losses, defeating Minnesota 28-22 on Sunday. In the win, cornerback Cooper DeJean finished with eight tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup. Leading 14-3 in second quarter, with the Vikings on the brink of scoring, DeJean broke up a pass in the end zone intended for Justin Jefferson. The Eagles defense would hold for a field goal.

On the season, DeJean has totaled 46 tackles, three tackles for loss and six passes broken up. He’s averaging 6.57 tackles per game and is on track for 111.7 tackles, which would be more than double what he had last season as a rookie (51).
4. Minnesota Vikings TE TJ Hockenson
The emergence of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison as one of the better WR duos in the NFL has cost TJ Hockenson in the production category. He caught 86 passes in ’22 and a career-high 95 passes in ’23 but is averaging just 4.13 receptions per game over his last 16 games. In Sunday’s 28-22 loss to Philadelphia, Hockenson had a decent game, catching six passes for 43 yards, but also had a 15-yard touchdown grab overturned after review that would have cut the Eagles lead to 28-26 with 3:05 to play.
“New York can’t call in and say that it’s not a catch when every other ref out there says it is,” said Hockenson to the media after the game.
On the season, Hockenson has caught 25 passes for 196 yards, nine first downs and one touchdown. At his current pace, he is on track to finish with 70.8 receptions, 555.3 yards, 25.5 first downs and 2.8 touchdowns.
