Sebastian Castro returning for one more year

Sebastian Castro will be returning to the University of Iowa for one more season. The star defensive back announced his decision today via social media.
This past season was a breakout year for the 5-foot-11 and 205 pound defensive back from Oak Lawn, IL. He spend most of the season playing Iowa’s “Cash” position on defense. Castro had 67 tackles, including 8 for loss, 1 sack, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 forced fumble. He also led the team with 3 interceptions and broke up 8 passes.

Castro was Iowa’s highest graded player on defense according to Pro Football Focus. He played 921 snaps and earned an overall grade of 91.4. His coverage grade was an outstanding 91.5 and came in at 87.0 on run defense.
Following his outstanding season, Castro was named first team All American by Pro Football Focus and third team by the Associated Press. He was also named second team All Big Ten by the media and by Phil Steele. Castro was also named Big Ten player of the week following Iowa’s win over Iowa State. In that game, he had a pick six and four tackles.
