Iowa football player presser news and notes

It’s Cy-Hawk week and that means plenty of questions about the always heated in-state rivalry between the Hawkeyes and the Cylcones. The two schools will renew it on Saturday in Ames and the Iowa players discussed it. This game is particularly interesting for a player like Xavier Williams, who is traveling to a true road venue for the first time and is learning about the rivalry between the in-state foes.
We also heard from Mark Gronowski about his struggles in the opening game and the positive message that he has received from head coach Kirk Ferentz and offensive coordinator Tim Lester and how it has impacted him this week in practice.
We also visited with Drew Stevens about windy conditions that always seem to happen in Ames and how that impacts his kicking. Plus we hear from Gennings Dunker and Trevor Lauck about their highly graded performances on Saturday and blocking against the Cyclones 3-3-5 defense. And finally defensive backs Zach Lutmer and Deshaun Lee talk about the challenge of facing Rocco Becht and the large Iowa State tight ends.
