The first puzzle piece for the 2025 Iowa Women’s Basketball non-conference schedule has emerged. Jan Jensen and the Hawkeyes will take part in the 2025 WBCA Showcase at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida. Scheduling details are limited, but based on last year’s tournament, it appears Baylor, Miami FL and Davidson will fill out the rest of Iowa’s group. Whether they play one or two games is not yet determined.

A brief look at the potential opponents for the Hawkeyes…

Baylor: Possibly a ranked matchup if the Hawkeyes meet with them, Baylor finished last season with a 28-8 overall record, including a 15-3 mark in Big 12 play. They defeated Grand Canyon in the first round of the NCAA Tournament but fell to Ole Miss on their home floor in the second round. The Bears return star guard Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, while Auburn guard Taliah Scott headlined a trio of transfer additions for head coach Nicki Collen. Iowa is 0-2 all-time against Baylor, including a loss in the 2019 Elite Eight.

Miami FL: The ‘Canes got off to a hot 11-1 start last season, but finished with a 14-15 overall record, including a 4-14 mark in ACC play, falling short of any postseason tournaments. Second year head coach Tricia Cullop went to work in the transfer portal, bringing in seven players, including MAAC Player of the Year Gal Raviv from Quinnipiac, First Team All-MW guard Amarachi Kimpson and Florida center Ra Shaya Kyle. Iowa is 4-0 all-time against the Hurricanes, including a wins at the 2013 and 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Davidson: A solid mid-major program, Davidson finished last season with an 18-14 overall record, including a 13-5 mark in Atlantic 10 play. They earned a spot in the WBIT but fell in the opening round to James Madison. The Wildcats are led by Second Team All-A10 guard Charlise Dunn and a pair of A10 All-Freshman Team selections, forward Candice Lienafa and guard Kyra Bruyndoncx. Iowa and Davidson have never met before.

Last season, under first year head coach Jan Jensen, the Hawkeyes finished with a 23-11 overall record, including an 10-8 mark in Big Ten play. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament for a seventh consecutive season, defeating Murray State in their opening round game, before falling to Oklahoma in the second round. In ESPN’s Way-Too-Early 2025-26 Top 25 rankings, Iowa came in ranked 22nd in the country.
