Iowa Women's Basketball signee Addie Deal named a McDonald's All-American
It’s been known for quite some time that the Iowa Women’s Basketball program landed a big-time player in ’25 signee Addie Deal, however, on Monday afternoon, the senior at Mater Dei High School in California joined an exclusive list for Hawkeye recruits, as she was named to the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Team. She joins Caitlin Clark (’20), Samantha Logic (’11) and Johanna Solverson (’02) as the only Hawkeyes to earn the distinction out of high school.
“Awesome and well-deserved,” said her former head coach at Mater Dei, Kevin Kiernan on Twitter. “A great comeback from missing a huge part of junior year to becoming a McDonald’s All-American. Hard work pays off!”
Deal shared the following graphic on her Instagram with the caption, “I’m lovin it”, which is the universally known catch phrase for McDonald’s.

Deal committed to Iowa back in March of 2024, over an offer list that included LSU, Stanford, Iowa State, Indiana, Arizona, Oregon, USC, UCLA and many others. She is rated as a four-star, #15 player in the country per the On3 Industry Rankings. At the time over her commitment, Addie told HawkeyeReport about her decision to go with Iowa over other schools.
“The coaching staff felt like a family. A lot of coaching staffs have been great to me, but I really felt a part of the family from day one with both the coaching staff and players.”

In early January, Deal surpassed 1,700 career points at the West Coast Jamboree, giving her more than 1,700 points, 600 rebounds, 400 assists and 325 steals for her high school career. Her Mater Dei team is currently ranked 4th in the country by MaxPreps with a 20-2 overall record.
The highly prized signee will be in Iowa City on Sunday, February 2nd when the Hawkeyes host Juju Watkins and the fourth-ranked USC Trojans. It will be an important recruiting weekend for the coaching staff, with several top recruits coming for visits, including an official visit from ’26 five-star guard Kate Harpring.
