Isaiah Johnson-Arigu enters the transfer portal

In January, Isaiah Johnson-Arigu arrived in Iowa City looking for a fresh start in his freshman year. After signing with Miami in the fall of his senior year of high school, the Minnesota native saw his college coach, Jim Larranaga retire suddenly in December.
The 6-foot-7 forward had Iowa as his second choice coming out of high school and quickly transferred to Iowa City and joined the program in January. He had to sit out the remainder of his freshman year due to NCAA rules regarding playing for two programs in the same season, but was looking forward to making an impact with the Hawkeyes.

Then Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery was let go at the end of the season and after watching most of his teammates exit the program, Johnson-Arigu decided to join them by entering the transfer portal on Friday afternoon.
Currently the only returning players still listed on Iowa’s official on-line roster are Cooper Koch, who redshirted this season, Carter Kingsbury, and walk-on’s Jacob Koch and Trey Buchanan. Iowa has also added four players who were significant contributors to new Iowa coach Ben McCollum’s program this past season in Bennett Stirtz, Cam Manyawu, Kael Combs, and Isaia Howard. They are also expected to add forward Tavion Banks from Drake.
