Jay Higgins returning for 2024 season

The Iowa football program received a significant piece of good news today. All American and All Big Ten linebacker Jay Higgins has decided to use his Covid year and return to play for the Hawkeyes in the 2024 college football season.

The Indianapolis native had waited patiently for his time to shine and he did just that this past season. Higgins had a Big Ten high 155 tackles this season, which is the third highest total for a single season in Iowa football history. He led the Hawkeyes in tackle in 11 of 13 games this season and 9 games where he had more than ten tackles.

Following the outstanding season, Higgins was named a first team All American by FFWA and Sports Illustrated. He was name a second team All American by the AFCA, Associated Press, Walter Camp, The Sporting News, and CBS.
