Talented defensive end Joseph Anderson is headed to the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound St. Louis native announced his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes today after making an official visit to campus June 23-25.

A three-star prospect with an On3 Industry Ranking of 86.22, Anderson chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Wyoming, Army, Ball State, Miami-OH, and Bowling Green, among others.

Anderson, a two-sport athlete, made official visits to Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas before arriving at his decision.

“Iowa is the right fit because of the people, the culture of the program, and the commitment to developing me and giving me the chance to compete in football in track,” said Anderson. “Coach Ferentz and the entire Iowa football staff and operations team is committed to winning and it’s a place where my family and I can see me developing into the type of player and man that I want to be.”

At 6-foot-5, Anderson qualified for state track in the 110 meter hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. This past season was only his third year of playing football, but he has already made a name for himself at Westminster Christian Academy, earning All-State honors after racking up 54 tackles and six sacks as a junior.

Overall, Anderson is commitment No. 17 for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2024.
