Grade school flag football was the last time that Peyton McCollum had his dad as a head coach. He initially thought he’d be his coach at Drake, but instead, it’s in the Big Ten at Iowa. Transitioning and adjusting isn’t all new for McCollum, as he transferred from Maryville (MO) to Waukee Northwest (IA) for his senior season of high school basketball.

On Tuesday afternoon after practice, Peyton McCollum met with the media, discussing what he learned from transferring to and playing at Waukee Northwest, facing certain scrutiny as the coach’s son and what makes Ben McCollum someone that players want to play for.
