Play-by-play recap: Gold 10 Black 3 (F/7)
The annual Black & Gold World Series has been a staple for the Iowa Baseball team over the years as a way to wrap up the fall schedule. On Friday afternoon, Gold got the bats going, banging out 11 hits en route to a 10-3 win over Black to clinch the series.
HawkeyeReport has named North Alabama transfer Matthew Delgado and true freshman Brody Irlbeck Co-MVP’s of the series. Delgado finished the series with five hits, a sac fly, four RBI’s and two runs scored. As for Irlbeck, he tossed 4.0 scoreless innings on the mound in a Game 2 win, while he had an RBI single and an RBI double in Game 3.
