Play-by-play recap: Rutgers 5 Iowa 4
It was a windy day in Piscataway for the Big Ten opener between Iowa and Rutgers. The two sides battled back and forth, but the Scarlet Knights came away with a 5-4 victory in the series opener. Rutgers opened up a 3-0 lead after two innings, but the Hawkeyes answered with a Ben Wilmes grand slam in the fourth inning to take the lead. However, the Scarlet Knights put up single runs in the fifth and sixth, while their pitching staff was able to wiggle out of two late jams to close out the game. Game two of the series is set for a 1:00pm CT first pitch on Saturday afternoon on BTN+.
