Class of 2026 quarterback Cash Herrera and the Hawkeyes have parted ways. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound California native officially announced today that he has decommitted from Iowa and will be exploring other options.

A three-star prospect, Herrera verbally committed to the Hawkeyes last October, choosing the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from UCLA, Minnesota, Washington State, Virginia Tech, Colorado State, San Diego State, Appalachian State, Columbia, Brown, and Yale at the time.

Since then, he has added offers from Arizona and California as well as interest from Indiana and several others. According to sources, Herrera would like to visit some of these new options, so both sides decided it was time to part ways. Iowa will now be looking for a new quarterback to fill the void in the Class of 2026.

As a junior, Herrera was 141/226 passing (62.4%) for 2,033 yards with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also had 334 yards rushing and eight touchdowns on the ground this past season for Bishop’s.
