It’s been an interesting year for the Iowa tight end room. Their top target, Addison Ostrenga, was seemingly ready for a breakout season, but went down with a season-ending injury against Iowa State in week two. The two guys that have stepped up in his absence this season are former Dordt transfer Hayden Large, who played fullback for two seasons, and former walk-on DJ Vonnahme. Despite being the unlikely options coming into the year, they’ve kept the room afloat and producing with Ostrenga set to return from injury next season.

Tight Ends Coach Abdul Hodge met with the media on Wednesday morning to discuss the state of his room, what he has seen from Hayden Large and DJ Vonnahme, the recovery process for Addison Ostrenga, how he keeps the guys in his room locked in when targets might not be plentiful and more.
