WATCH: Jan Jensen, Hawkeyes talk in-state rivalry week

It’s in-state rivalry week for the Iowa Women’s Basketball team, as they get set to face Drake on Thursday, before a trip up to Cedar Falls on Sunday to play Northern Iowa. Always exciting and anticipated games for the state of Iowa, both sides know each other well from the coaching staff to the players who may have grown up playing with or against them in AAU tournaments. Two MVC programs that are going through some turnover on their respective rosters, means Iowa is going to be a heavy favorite in both matchups. Still, the Hawkeyes aren’t overlooking their in-state foes.
Taylor McCabe and Addie Deal met with the media on Wednesday morning to discuss the weekend ahead. McCabe discussed playing against her sister Drake, becoming confident in having the green light to shoot and using her voice as a veteran on the roster. Deal spoke about settling in as a freshman and what it’s like playing in front of a full crowd.
We also met with head coach Jan Jensen. She talked about the signing of five-star forward McKenna Woliczko, recruiting, going up against Drake and what she expects from Lisa Bluder as the color commentator for Thursday night.
