Camps are a time for Kansas State to conduct extensive evaluations of prospects. Sometimes you’ll see a rising senior get offers, and there are even times when prospects even younger get an offer. K-State has made a few offers to prospects in the 2028 class already.

One of the 2028 offers was extended to Madrid, Iowa tight end Jevyn Severson. The Iowa native attended the Kansas State camp which took place on June 5.

“It was a super good experience being around the great coaching staff there at K-State. I learned a lot of new stuff to help me be more successful as a player,” Severson began. “And it was cool, it was my first time ever there in Manhattan, and I showed out and got an offer. I can’t wait to be around more and make a real relationship with the staff/coaches at K-State.”

Kansas State tight ends coach Luke Wells extended the offer to the sophomore.

“It was a great conversation. He pulled me aside after camp and said ‘I love how you move and I see a lot of potential in you and we would love to have you here in our program,'” he shared.

Learning from Wells was one of the highlights of the camp for the tight end.

“I would probably say his ability to know the game and real game scenarios stood out,” he noted. “I learned how to make routes smoother out of my breaks and placements on block, how to control a block.”

It was a busy summer for Severson. He camped at Iowa, Kansas, Iowa State and Wisconsin in addition to Kansas State.

“I loved how Kansas State had pads and you’re able to make more contact and really show how you can play,” he pointed out. “I really felt like every camp I went to this year was good.”

Just being a sophomore, he is still in the early stages of his recruitment.

“I’m looking forward to being around different programs, really see how it is to be there for 3-4 years. Just want to be able to build relationships throughout the recruitment process,” he opined. “I want to visit the schools that have offered (Kansas State, Iowa State and Wisconsin) and Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Iowa this fall. I would say what I have heard about the relationships that people have made and the rich tradition of winning/culture at those programs to make you a better person and player [makes me want to visit].”

Despite being an underclassman, Severson knows what he is looking for in the school he commits to.

“The relationship I will make, being able to maximize my potential as a person and player,” he concluded. “Also, a great community, coaching staff, and a great fan base to make sure I feel like I’m at home.”
