A health update on Kansas State OL George Fitzpatrick

The first press conference of Kansas State training camp was on Monday afternoon as head coach Chris Klieman addressed the media for the first time since being at The Star in Frisco for Big 12 Media Days. He began by addressing the medical event regarding offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick is an Ohio State transfer that was all the rage not long ago, being spotlighted by his head coach as the bonafide starting left tackle for K-State this season and perhaps the best offensive linemen on the team following the spring.
However, he went through a serious medical situation that has sidelined him. Kansas State and the Fitzpatrick family released a joint statement soon after it occurred.
“George had a medical situation to which the training staff quickly responded. He is improving every day and we appreciate all who have cared for and supported him as he continues to recover.”

Klieman dug into it by stating that Fitzpatrick is doing much better, which is great news to hear. He is no longer in the hospital and has returned to his home in Manhattan. He has even been to the K-State football facility a few times.
It is important to state he has not returned to activity just yet and no timetable for that has been set. However, Klieman did share that he will be back at Kansas State at some point and playing for the Wildcats. How quickly is obviously to be determined.
Seeing Fitzpatrick playing for K-State to begin the season would of course seem very ambitious since he has not been a participant in any of the first five practices after a serious medical event. But just the thought of him being in a Kansas State uniform and being able to discuss the potential for that is a good sign.
