Big 12 Rankings: Kansas State fails to gain ground

1. Texas Tech
DY: They can beat everyone in the league by multiple scores with their ‘A’ game.
2. Arizona State
MV: They are going to get a mulligan if they lose at Utah this weekend because of Sam Leavitt’s injury. His missed game and loss at Cincinnati last year spurred the Sun Devils on a winning streak that didn’t stop until they met Texas in the Peach Bowl.
3. Utah
DY: They don’t have enough offense to rank ahead of Arizona State but are healthy enough to rank ahead of the Cyclones.
4. TCU
MV: Right now the only blemish is a three-point loss at Arizona State. I think they have been graded a little tougher than necessary. But they can’t lose a game like they have with Kansas State this weekend.
5. BYU
DY: They still have not played anyone.
6. Iowa State
MV: The injuries are really concerning, considering Cincinnati ripped through their defense last weekend. Rocco Becht is a gamer and the offense has enough weapons to scrap in every game, but the injuries are likely to prevent them from playing for a conference title.
7. Cincinnati
DY: Credit where credit is due. They will score this season and have been one of the more consistent clubs.
8. Baylor
MV: They are going to give up a lot of points; they will win games where Dave Aranda isn’t the worst coach on the field.
9. Kansas
DY: There was an opening for a climb this week. Instead, they almost lost to UCF.
10. Houston
MV: It was a predictable outcome against Texas Tech. Houston’s success this season will be defined by how they play against everyone else in the league.

11. Arizona
MV: Still not a good team. Weak schedule, caught K-State at the right time. About to get blasted by BYU.
12. Kansas State
DY: The coaches blew it.
T-13. Colorado
DY: They can beat West Virginia and Oklahoma State. Nobody else, even if they lead early.
T-13. UCF
MV: I don’t think very highly of them, but being ahead of two teams tells you just how bad West Virginia and Oklahoma State are.
15. West Virginia
DY: In most years they would be last by far.
16. Oklahoma State
MV: A shocking two year stretch for the Cowboys, who might go two years without winning a Big 12 game.
