For the sixth time in school history, Kansas State is heading back to the NCAA Baseball Tournament. K-State is heading to Texas for the regional in Austin.

The Wildcats are the No. 3 seed in the Austin Regional and will face American Athletic Conference champion UTSA in the first game. Kansas State finished the season 35-26 and finished sixth in the Big 12 at 17-13 overall.

In a bit of an ironic twist, a potential date with former Big 12 school Texas could loom in the second game if both K-State and the Longhorns win their first matchups. Texas is the No. 2 overall seed with a record of 42-12 and 22-8 record in their first season in the SEC.

It is the second consecutive season Kansas State has made the NCAA baseball tournament. Last season, K-State was the No. 3 seed in the Fayetteville regional before sweeping their way to going to the Super Regionals, including a dramatic win over host and No. 5 national seed Arkansas. The Wildcats were then swept by Charlotte in the Super Regional. Kansas State has made a Super Regional the last two times it has made the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Pete Hughes‘ squad is very battled tested with many games versus the NCAA Tournament field. K-State has faced three squads who are hosts in the NCAA Tournament this season in Coastal Carolina, North Carolina and LSU with the games against Coastal Carolina being true road contests.

The Wildcats are led by two All Big 12 Second Team members Keagan O’Conner and Maximus Martin. O’Conner hit .323 this season and tied a program record with 16 home runs. Martin hit a team high .332 average with 14 home runs. As a team, Kansas State hit a team record 92 home runs this season.

NCAA baseball regionals start May 30 and run through June 2. Kansas State faces off with UTSA May 30 at 6:00 pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
