Kansas State has been rolling on the recruiting trail coming off of their first official visit weekend of the summer. Three prospects have already committed to K-State following their visit, and Wildcat commit Brandon Ford announced he was shutting his recruitment down.

Coincidentally, all three commits from the weekend have been from Texas and nine of the 14 official visitors hailed from the Lone Star State.

One was El Paso product and offensive lineman Justin Morales. He made his verbal pledge to Kansas State just a few hours after Amarillo offensive lineman Keegan Collins announced his commitment to the Wildcats. K-State nabbed two from west Texas away from Texas Tech.

“The visit was amazing,” Morales said. “I love the people, the staff and the atmosphere. The players are great, well-built people.”

Morales’ time in The Little Apple over the weekend was his first time visiting Kansas State. With that, he was able to learn quite a bit about the football program.

“I learned that these guys are a very energetic team,” he shared.

The three-star prospect was also able to be around his future position coach Brian Lepak for an extended period. Lepak and the Texan have developed a very strong relationship, which helped lead to his commitment.

“Lepak is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met in terms of football knowledge,” Morales noted. “I liked meeting the staff. Meeting these guys on a personal level and getting to know their stories really shows how their characters were built so well.”

“This is the best staff I’ve ever seen put together,” he added.
