Kansas State extends women's basketball coach Jeff Mittie through 2030

Kansas State announced on Thursday an extension for women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie. Mittie is preparing to start his 12th season in Manhattan. He is also coming off his best season with the Wildcat women, helping lead the team to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2002.
This is the second straight year that Mittie has received a contract extension, with last year’s new deal running through 2029. Now Mittie will remain at K-State through the 2029-2030 season.
Mittie holds a career record of 218-143 in Manhattan and has appeared in the postseason nine times in 11 seasons, with the COVID seasons of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 being the lone years without postseason basketball. That also includes six NCAA Tournament appearances.
During his time as head coach, Mittie mentored the leading scorer and rebounder in Kansas State history, Ayoka Lee, who also holds the NCAA record for points in a single game.
This past season, K-State had five players appear on All-Big 12 teams, which is the most in school history. In ten straight seasons, the Wildcats have had at least two players make All-Big 12.

A native of Blue Springs, Missouri, Mittie attended Missouri Western where he was head coach for three seasons. He then made the jump to Division I with Arkansas State for four seasons. His last stop before Kansas State was at TCU, where he coached for 15 seasons. He is the winningest coach in Horned Frog history.
Mittie replaced Deb Patterson, the K-State winningest coach, and has followed up her 18-year run to become the second-winningest coach and the second-longest tenured in program history.
K-State will carry momentum from back-to-back strong seasons in 2025-2026. Coming off hosting the NCAA Tournament and a second weekend run, Mittie recruited one of the best classes in school history. The class includes five-star Jordan Speiser and four-stars Brandie Harrod and Aniya Foy.
