Kansas State offensive MVP: Avery Johnson

For the most part, Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson was great. He threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns. The junior was making all the right decisions on third downs and picking them up threw the air and on the ground. Johnson looked as comfortable and confident as he has as the Wildcats quarterback all season.

He even ran it well adding 72 yards and another score on the ground which was a 31 yard rush, the second longest of his career. For all the good he had, Johnson did have one critical mistake of the pick six to give Baylor a 32-31 lead with four minutes to go. Now, he did bounce back on the next play from scrimmage, but that is just a critical mistake in a big moment.

Jayce Brown and Jaron Tibbs were both really good as well. Brown gutted out an injury to catch four passes for 106 yards and a score. He also appeared to score on the play after the Johnson pick six, but was called back due to his helmet being ripped off. Tibbs caught six passes for 80 yards and was unguadable in the first half.

Defensive MVP: Qua Moss

Honestly, defensive player of the game is pretty tough this week. It was a pretty up and down performance and the defense did not come up in a critical situation at the end of the game. Qua Moss was pretty good for the most part and keeps bringing the energy and had a major tackle for a loss in the first half.

Daniel Cobbs and Kanijal Thomas both had some good moments as well. Cobbs had one of the best plays on the ball by a Kansas State defender all season on an interception at the two yard line. Thomas had as good of a two plays as you could ask in the first half with a tackle for a loss followed up by a forced fumble.

K-State special teams MVP: Luis Rodriguez

Special teams was once again not great for Kansas State. Even though Luis Rodriguez got the potential game winning field goal blocked, he was still the best player on the unit. There were no real opportunities for a return and K-State allowed a critical return after going up 34-32 with just under two minutes to go.

Simon McClannan had a 56 yard punt, but was poor on the other three punts today.
