Kansas State offensive MVP: Jayce Brown

The only noteworthy player on Kansas State’s offense tonight was Jayce Brown. The junior wideout caught six balls for 68 yards. He also had the biggest play of the night taking a direct snap from center and taking it 75 yards for a touchdown. K-State’s offense lacks heart and emotion, but Brown’s touchdown was the only real jolt of energy Kansas State has had on offense all season. His energy is the only reason the offense is getting a player of the game.

K-State’s offense was the last drive of the game away from being out-gained by Arizona running back Ismail Mahdi.

Defensive MVP: Qua Moss

While Kansas State’s defense has been pretty poor at times a lot of the season, Qua Moss has been a bright spot. Like Brown, he plays with a lot of energy and fire on the field. He had K-State’s first interception of the season on a trick play by Arizona and broke up a pass.

Tobi Osunsanmi and Chiddi Obiazor had some nice moments in pass rush scenarios, causing holding penalties on Arizona as well.

K-State special teams MVP: Garrett Harstad

There were actually quite a few options for special teams MVP, which is saying something with how Kansas State special teams have played this season. I am going to select Garrett Harstad, though. His blocked punt looked to potentially be a turning point after K-State had the Brown touchdown run in the third quarter. The blocked punt was the eighth straight season the Wildcats have blocked a punt, which is the longest streak in the country.

Luis Rodriguez also drilled a 51-yard field goal for a new career high for Kansas State. He has been a bright spot at kicker all season long. Simon McClannan also set a career high for average punt yardage at 50.8 on five punts in the loss.
