LSU head coach Brian Kelly parted ways with the five on-field coaches from the 2023 season and hired five new defensive coaches ahead of February’s National Signing Day.

As the Tigers work through the opening stretch of spring practices, another former Tiger has joined the staff as a defensive analyst where he will work with the defensive line.

LSU has confirmed the hiring of former defensive end Jermauria Rasco, making the move official this month.

LSU hired two former players to on-field roles when defensive line coach Bo Davis and secondary coach Corey Raymond were brought on staff following the 2023 season. Former LSU running back Nick Brossette is on staff as the program’s Director of Alumni Relations and High School Outreach. The Tigers also hired former LSU receiver Paul Turner a year ago to serve as an offensive analyst.

Rasco, who graduated from LSU in December of 2014 with a degree in sports administration, spent three seasons as the player development coordinator at Louisiana-Lafayette. Prior to that, he served as an analyst at Arizona from 2018-20. He got his start in coaching at Texas A&M in 2017.

Rasco appeared in 48 games during his time with the Tigers, starting 26 times. He racked up 154 career tackles to go along with 19.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. His best season came as a senior in 2014 when he had 71 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

LSU won 41 games during Rasco’s four seasons as a player with the Tigers, including a perfect 13-0 regular-season mark in 2011.

Following his college career, Rasco signed a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers. He spent one season with the Packers followed stints with Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. Rasco retired from football following his time with the Steelers and began his coaching career at Texas A&M.

As a high school player in Louisiana, Rasco was ranked by Scout as a 5-star prospect in the 2010 class, and he took home LSWA Class 2A Defensive MVP honors at Evangel in Shreveport. After totaling 92 tackles and 21 sacks as a senior, Rasco was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game.
