LSU 2024 safety target Joel Rogers has set a commitment date, and the Louisiana native will now have a decision made soon after the summer began.

Rogers will announce his commitment on Monday, June 12 from the West Feliciana High School gymnasium. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Rogers has a double-digit offer list and is being courted by some of the top college football programs in America.

Rogers sees his recruitment take off following junior season

With an impressive junior season in the books, Rogers saw his recruitment explode this offseason.

In February, Rogers had offers come in from the likes of Miami, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Texas.

In early March, LSU brought Rogers to campus and offered him a verbal scholarship. Alabama offered two weeks later, pushing his offer count over 20.

Rogers had planned official visits to LSU, Alabama and TCU in June, but he has since shuffled up those plans. He made an unofficial visit to LSU a week ago, then cancelled an upcoming trip to Tuscaloosa ahead of Monday’s college reveal.

LSU trending on the On3 RPM

LSU is the team trending on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, and the Tigers have multiple predictions in to land a commitment from Rogers.

The Tigers have made Rogers a priority this offseason, with area recruiter Joe Sloan, assistant Frank Wilson and safeties coach Kerry Cooks all playing a role in pushing for the local four-star prospect.

“Coach Cooks is a great guy all-around,” Rogers said. “I could tell how intentional he was with player development from the first time I met him at LSU football camp. He understands the game on so many different levels. He teaches as if he is giving all of his knowledge to players to help them see the game the way he does

“LSU’s staff is full of great coaches and men who focus on the development of the team not only as player, but into becoming adults which shows a true coaching environment. It’s always great to be around LSU’s players and coaching staff.”

On3 is high on what Rogers brings to a college team

In February, On3 updated the Top 300 for the 2024 class. Rogers went from unranked to the No. 211 overall prospect in the country.

Four months later, Rogers is now ranked by On3 as the No. 186 overall prospect in the country and No. 17 safety recruit in the 2024 class.

On3 National Director of Rankings and Scouting Charles Power tabbed Rogers as the No. 4 prospect in the state of Louisiana.

“We liked Joel Rogers’ ability as a two-way playmaker when projecting him as a safety,” Power said. “He’s a high school quarterback who makes a lot of plays with his mobility. We were also impressed with his physicality and striking power on defense. He’s a natural on that side of the ball.”
