WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We heard from Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward and coach Mario Cristobal yesterday leading up to tomorrow’s spring game at Cobb Stadium on campus at 4 p.m., so don’t miss what they were saying. We also have what OL Tommy Kinsler was talking about after Thursday’s work.

This morning you don’t want to miss Gary Ferman’s column breaking down the second portal window needs and where things stand roster-wise with this Miami team.

Plus this morning we have an analysis of the offense and who has the most to prove heading into the Spring Game. Check that out.

In recruiting?

We caught up with Opelika (Ala.) four-star Auburn defensive line commit Malik Autry off his Thursday visit. He raved about it and it appears an OV will be up next. So don’t miss that.

Another visitor? Opelousas (La.) three-star running back D’shaun Ford made his way from the Boot to the Sunshine State Thursday morning for an unofficial visit. When asked about his trip to Miami and the impact it had on the way he viewed the Hurricanes, Ford did not shy away from naming Miami as the school to beat in his recruitment. So check that out, too.

Since receiving an offer from the Miami Hurricanes in January, Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater 2026 four-star quarterback Michael Clayton has continued to strengthen his bond with the Canes and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. He visited last weekend and shares where things stand.

Plus we have the recap/reaction off the baseball team’s tough one-run loss at Florida State last night.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

My thoughts on taking a lot of transfers … Posted by eplanas

I don’t think Mario is looking to reset the roster every 2 years. I think he is pulling in stopgap players while the HS recruiting classes stack up and have time to develop. He is clearing some space from past recruits that got passed by to open up roster spots and maybe more importantly NIL money. Can’t be spending big NIL money on a player who was passed over by younger recruits.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It’s as simple as we need to get to a certain number on the roster. (The media) is not at practice, the closed door of real decision-making, not some of the other stuff people tend to put out there. Football doesn’t really tell lies. Positions are won out there, some guys attack it and do a great job and some guys just flat out fold. Spring football is to find out who are the guys that can step up and play winning Miami Hurricanes football.
