WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Spring practice resumes today – it’s practice No. 13 as we’re in the final week of drills leading up to Saturday’s Spring Game at 4 p.m. on campus at Cobb Stadium. So be sure to tune back later this morning for all the news coming out of practice, including what the team is talking about.

This morning we also have plenty more new recruiting news for you.

And it starts with a big 4-star commitment from under Ohio State’s nose, 4-star TE Luka Gilbert. Don’t miss what Gilbert is saying about his decision and just what this addition means for the Canes.

There’s also more feedback from weekend visitors.

We also catch up with Enterprise (Ala.) three-star cornerback Andrew Purcell, who visited Miami less than a month after landing a Hurricanes offer.

Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep four-star safety Dallas Golden has established himself as one of the nation’s best defensive backs. On Saturday, the elite prospect was on campus in Miami.  Find out what he’s saying.

Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School four-star 2026 safety Simeon Caldwell also took a weekend trip to Miami. The No. 74 overall prospect in next year’s recruiting cycle is confident the Hurricanes are one of his top 10 schools and talks about why.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Thoughts on the LBs, DL and more … Posted by APB_Cane

I believe the staff trusts what they recruited at the LB position along with seeing/coaching day in and day out from a talent, growth and knowing the defense standpoint where they are comfortable throwing Aguirre, Young and Pulliman out there. Similar to what they have done with Bissanthe since he has arrived (300+snaps freshman, 400+ sophomore).

Injuries are mum, but getting the sense that the staff wants to make sure there is adequate experienced depth at DE. They are not going to take a chance of something being re-aggravated or a couple of injuries where they are having to rely on true freshman to anchor one of the defensive end spots. If one of the freshman beat out the a guy they bring in, even more depth to lean on.

At DT they absolutely need one stud.

On offense, just adding an elite RB will send the how good this offensive can be through the roof.

There is still a ton of growth this offense will make between the end of spring to the start of fall camp, if it resembles anything like from off-season workout to now, then we are instore for some fireworks.

There have been so many guys that have made significant strides since last year this time.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It’s a blessing to be a part of the Canes’ kingdom. It’s a real blessing to be able to play for coach Woodiel and coach (Mario) Cristobal. I’m very excited for what is in store for me.”
