WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well be sure to check out our feature on one of this weekend’s visitors, JUCO WR Shemar Kirk out of Reedley (Calif.) College. He has a recruiting back story unlike anything we’ve heard previously. We also preview your visitors this weekend, and there are several that could help bolster this year’s Miami depth chart.

Plus yesterday we had your top offensive position group; today we break down the top group on defense. It might just surprise you.

Additionally, CaneSport is breaking down the top 50 post-spring players on the roster, a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. Today we analzye No. 49, Malik Curtis.

In recruiting?

Metairie (La.) St. Martin’s Episcopal School 2025 running back Harlem Berry, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 1 running back in the 2025 class, added Miami to his constantly-growing offer list late last week after co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor dropped by his school. He shares his thoughts.

Plus Miami Hurricanes linebackers coach Derek Nicholson made his way to Norfolk, Virginia, for a stop at Maury High School, where he dished out an offer to four-star defensive back Kendall Daniels. Daniels updates where things stand now.

With 2026 prospects garnering interest and offers from teams throughout the country, Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban offensive tackle Sam Greer is one of the latest athletes in his class to receive an offer from the Miami Hurricanes. His take? Read on for that.

Last night also was the University of Miami Hall of Fame sports induction ceremony. And Jim Larranaga was inducted. So you can read about that, too.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Baseball: Canes move up in polls, flirt with Top 10 … Posted by AtlantaCane

Caniacs…

Well actually, in one poll we are more than flirting.

By golly, we’re IN…at No. 8!!!!!

There are 6 polls that I know of. One has us in the Top 10, 4 within 3 and the 6th won’t release their new poll for a couple days.

I included Duke below bc they are on a hot streak and rocketing up the polls. And it just so happens they are the team we’re chasing in the Coastal Division. They lead and we’re a half game behind them.

That end of regular season series vs them at The Light looms large.

Here’s the poll list that compares this week’s numbers to last week.

Collegiate Baseball: 8, up 4 (Duke 13, up 9)

Baseball America: 10, up 3 (Duke 9, up 7)

D1Baseball.com: 11, up 5 (Duke 10, up 10)

USA Today: 11, up 6 (Duke 10, up 12)

Perfect Game: 13, up 7 (Duke 11, up 7)

NCBWA (Nat’l Collegiate Baseball Writers Assoc.): Updated poll released on Wednesday. Last week (4/24/23) they had us No. 20.

If U missed my other thread, our current RPI is 14 and our strength of schedule (SOS) is 8.

Also, no midweek game(s) this week. Our next game is Friday hosting Presbyterian for a 3-game series.

That’s all I got…for now.

Go Canes!

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY
