WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Our annual State Of The U series is here! CaneSport publisher Gary Ferman introduces it and shares his thoughts as we are set to dive deep into every crevice of the program to determine if there’s a true upward trend under Mario Cristobal. So be sure to check that out.

And it was a huge official visit weekend along with a successful Legends Camp, of course. And we caught up with tons of players for their takes that you won’t want to miss. See what the official visitors are saying … including one who committed off the visit, Timothy Merritt. Plus get an analysis of his play and what he brings to the table for the Canes.

And get feedback from Legends Camp as well … including from the legends. Don’t miss all that coverage and the post-OV thoughts from 5-star Elijah Griffin and other top priority OVs Mark Manfred, commit Luke Nickel, Daylyn Upshaw, Derry Norris, Joshua Moore, Cortez Smith, Demetrius Campbell, Walter Mathis and Gavin Nix.

Then we also have a couple of CaneSport roundtable items for you to check out, both dealing with the QB situation. First we share our thoughts on if Cam Ward will break Miami passing records this year, and then we also look at who will back him up and if that can give that player a leg up to start at QB in 2025.

There’s also our continuing analysis of the top 50 roster players, giving insight onto this team’s talent level and depth. Check out our closer look at No. 22 Reese Poffenbarger, No. 21 Zach Carpenter and No. 20 Zach Brown.

Plus don’t miss our Inside The Lines feature with key Miami target Calvin Russell.

You also want to check out our closer look at how Mario Cristobal is managing the recruiting trail, with input from national On3 recruiting experts.

And we catch up with longtime NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. He is back in South Florida after recently being named the head coach of his alma mater, Miami Northwestern, and shares a take on the Canes.

In hoops news the team added former Samford guard AJ Staton-McCray, and we have your evaluation of him.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Imagine this: Free transfer wild possibility? … Posted by Schnellys stache

Let’s say a beast player is a junior at a low level or mid tier program and contemplating whether to transfer for his senior year to a higher level program to prove himself to the nfl.

With Free transfer rule can he transfer once his team is out of it close to end of season and enroll in another school that’s in the playoffs for the semester that starts after Xmas? The championship is Jan 20 or so, therefore there’s a chance that he could get a final 4 game and champ game in before entering the draft. Prove himself in playoffs and have less risk of injury.

Next thing you know a guy like Big Ben or Damarcus Ware is on UGA or Bama for two games lol

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The program is very special. They always make sure I feel loved, make sure I feel wanted and make sure I feel needed.”

Miami (Fla.) Northwestern four-star wide receiver Calvin Russell
