EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles had a breakthrough game on Saturday night, but Spartan coaches are pushing for more. Chiles showed new levels of heart, determination and skillful playmaking with his arm and legs in the Spartans’ emotional 42-40, double-overtime victory over Boston College. Chiles was named Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week while throwing for 231 yards (19 of 29) and four touchdowns. He also gained 68 yards rushing, against 29 in losses on four sacks. He also rushed for a 3-yard TD in overtime. Five of his rushes earned a first down or a touchdown.  “A lot to like with Aidan in regard to his effort,” said Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith.  Was it Chiles’ best game to date? “I do think for a complete game, more than four quarters, yeah,” Smith said. “Aidan competed, he ran, accuracy with the ball.” The touchdown passes of 11 and 41 yards to Nick Marsh, the 3-yarder to tight end Michael Masunas, and the game-winning 2-point conversion pass to Omari Kelly stand out as clutch moments. Smith pointed to other details as well. “Quarterback play, decision making,” Smith said, “even some of the small stuff that you don't totally see during the game.” Pre-snap aptitude is on an uptick.
