East Lansing, Mich. Michigan State will play its second Big Ten game in five days when it takes on Nebraska at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln on Sunday. 

After starting the season 7-0, the Cornhuskers have lost back-to-back games to No. 10 Creighton and Minnesota. Meanwhile, Michigan State has lost two of its last three games – to No. 1 Arizona and No. 23 Wisconsin – en route to a 4-4 record to start the season.

A brief look at Nebraska

Charlotte transfer Brice Williams leads Nebraska in scoring at 14 points per game on 45.6 percent shooting (41.2 percent from three). Keisei Tominaga missed the first two games of the season with an injury, but is averaging 13.9 points per game since his return. 

Tominga is shooting 47.1 percent from the floor (34.2 percent from three) this season. 

Forward Juwan Gary also missed time to begin the season, but is averaging 13.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game through six games. New Mexico transfer Josiah Allick and Bradley transfer Rienk Mast both average over 25 minutes per game for the Cornhuskers. Mast leads the team with 9.2 rebounds per game.

Forward Blaise Keita and guard Ramel Lloyd, Jr. are both out with injury for Nebraska. Veteran point guard Ahron Ulis, who transferred in from Iowa, has yet to play this season due to his involvement in the Iowa sports gambling probe.

Michigan State vs. Nebraska series history

Michigan State has won its last 11 games against Nebraska, dating back to Feb. 2, 2017. The Spartans’ most recent victory over the Cornhuskers came on Feb. 28 in Lincoln. Michigan State beat Nebraska, 80-67, that day to sweep the season series. 

Michigan State leads the series, 23-7, dating back to the 1949-50 season.
