EAST LANSING, Mich. - New Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald is working to finalize his first recruiting class, hire an assistant coaching staff, and retain as many quality players in the program as he can. As for that middle task - hiring a staff - sources tell SpartanMag that Fitzgerald had a fluid list of more than 25 assistant coaching candidates in mind, ready for use whenever he acquired a head coaching position. Now that he has harnessed a head coaching job, he has gotten to work on that master list.  Interviews have taken place, with more to come. As is usually the case with assistant coach searches, information is tight. With a little bit of fear for being off the mark, SpartanMag today offers a Hot Board list of offensive coordinator candidates, some of whom Fitzgerald has possibly pondered, and others who might not be on the radar. Most of these are educated guesses, pinpointing candidates seen within the industry as viable contenders for an opening such as the one at Michigan State. Some are current offensive coordinators. Some are head coaches at the Group of Six level.  SpartanMag has heard whispers that at least one of the following candidates is very much on Fitzgerald’s radar, but we can’t divulge at this time which one.
