EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State listed the following players as “out” for Saturday’s game against Nebraska: wide receiver Alante Brown, defensive back NiJhay Burt, defensive end Jalen Thompson, tight end Jayden Savoury, tight end Brennan Parachek, kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic, long snapper Kaden Schickel, safety Nikai Martinez, linebacker Marcellius Pulliam, defensive back Ade Willie and left tackle Stanton Ramil.

The Spartans confirmed that the following players will miss the remainder of the year due to injury: rush end Anelu Lafaele, linebacker Brady Pretzlaff, offensive guard Luka Vincic, cornerback Andrew Brinson and defensive back Caleb Gash. Lafaele is a new addition to the list. A photo of him with crutches and a boot on his left leg surfaced on social media earlier this week.

Michigan State listed zero players as “questionable.”

The Spartans will count on the rest of its rush end room, among other positions groups, to pick up the slack with Lafaele, the team’s best pass rusher, out for this game and the remainder of the season.

This marks Thompson’s first absence of the season. Quindarius Dunnigan and Kekai Burnett will have to step up at the strong side defensive end spot.

Jack Velling and Michael Masunas are sure to receive a bulk of the snaps at tight end with Savoury and Parachek out. This is Savoury’s first missed game of the year.

This marks the second straight game that Michigan State will play without Willie, its starting nickel, and Martinez, one of its starting safeties. Armorion Smith could receive some snaps at both positions, with Justin Denson and Devynn Cromwell also in the mix at safety. Dontavius Nash and Jeremiah Hughes could receive some reps at nickel, too.

Michigan State will continue to rely on Jordan Hall, Wayne Matthews, Darius Snow, Aisea Moa and Semaj Bridgeman at linebacker with Pretzlaff and Pulliam out.
