REACTION: Michigan State's Jonathan Smith, has he heard from J Batt?

DETROIT - Following Michigan State’s 38-28 victory over Maryland at Ford Field, head coach Jonathan Smith didn’t seem like a man whom many believe may be out of a job in the coming days. But even he doesn’t know for sure. So he spoke after the game with a tone pointed toward next year, focused on his job in a respectable manner, as always. Michigan State ended its season with a 4-8 record, 1-8 in the Big Ten. Michigan State snapped an eight-game losing streak which caused many Spartan fans to call for Smith’s job, just two years into his tenure as the head man. Michigan State athletic director J Batt usually has been present for Smith’s entire postgame press conferences throughout the season. On Saturday night, Batt entered the media room after Smith’s press conference began, and left the room before it ended. There was no visual show of support from Batt for Smith. Officially, Smith was not available for comment after the game. Smith was asked if he has talked to Batt about his future beyond this night. (MORE inside SpartanMag.
