Following The Future: How Michigan signees performed over the weekend
Five Michigan commits were still playing football going into the weekend. Now, only three remain.
Rivals300 wide receiver pledge Travis Johnson is working hard to lead Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith to its second straight title. He had another impact performance in the Virginia state semifinals on Saturday afternoon, logging five receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown as Oscar Smith took down Vienna (Va.) James Madison.
Johnson, the No. 14 wide receiver and No. 112 overall recruit nationally, has been a playmaker throughout the postseason. Just last week, Johnson recorded three receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown in Oscar Smith’s quarterfinal win over Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale.
Johnson and Oscar Smith are now set to take on Stafford (Va.) North Stafford in the Virginia Class 6 state title game next Saturday.
Fellow Michigan signee Jaylen Pile, the No. 189 wide receiver and No. 1,198 overall prospect nationally, was limited to just one reception for 26 yards.
However, Pile did start on defense as well and helped lead Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal to a 14-7 win over Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian in the TAAPS DI state championship. With his season now over, Pile is set to arrive at Michigan as an early enrollee.
Three-star 2027 Michigan offensive line commit Tristan Dare and powerhouse Southlake (Texas) Carroll kept rolling this weekend with a dominant 51-19 win over Denton (Texas) Guyer in the 6A DII state quarterfinals. Dare, the No. 46 interior offensive lineman and No. 573 overall prospect nationally, and Carroll will now advance to the semifinals, where they will take on DeSoto (Texas) High.
