Michigan is fending off a push from Virginia Tech late into signing day as it hopes to secure a signature from Rivals300 wide receiver Travis Johnson. The Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith High star committed to the Wolverines in June, but the Hokies are taking his recruitment down to the wire.

Our EJ Holland is on site at Johnson’s signing day ceremony. Virginia Tech’s final push is very real and something to monitor closely. We will post constant updates throughout the ceremony that is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. ET. Johnson is the No. 112 recruit in the country and the No. 14 wide receiver prospect nationally.

But first, other sports

From EJ Holland earlier this afternoon: “Johnson has a longstanding relationship with new Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin, who recruited the talented pass catcher at Penn State. Franklin is personally leading the charge to keep Johnson close to home.”
