Marshall's Matters: Takeaways from Texas state 7v7 tournament

I spent the past three days in College Station, Texas, at the Texas State 7v7 tournament. There were not many notable Michigan recruits but some good information did come out of the weekend. Here are some of my takeaways.
First
One of my first takeaways from the weekend is that 2025 Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek ATH Jacorey Watson is the real deal. At Shadow Creek, Watson will play some quarterback, but his primary position long term is at wide receiver. At this event, Watson spent all time at receiver and showed that he will be one of the top prospects in the state in the 2025 class. As a route runner, Watson is clean and smooth. When the ball is in the air, there was not one defender that could compete with his ability to find it and get to it. He also has very good body control and awareness on the field.
As a freshman this past season, Watson had 21 catches for 243 yards. This upcoming season, it would not surprise me to see him with 60+ catch and 1,000+ yard type of production. The offense will be centered around him for the future. Many schools will jump in the race. Michigan has already extended an offer along with Texas, Houston, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and UTSA.
Second
2023 DeSoto (Texas) High wide receiver Johntay Cook is enjoying his recruiting process. Cook is expected/predicted to commit to Texas with Arch Manning now in the boat. It seems as though a commitment could come at any time. Yesterday, Cook said he was planning an announcement, which many thought would be a commitment. He then dropped a top three of Michigan, Texas, and Oregon. This just says to me he is taking his time and enjoying the process. Also, in a way, he is boosting the hype and talk around him by making this move, which smart in the NIL space. There is no telling when a commitment could come but don’t be surprised if takes a few weeks. But also don’t be surprised if it coms tomorrow. I think Cook likes being a bit unpredictable.

Third
2023 Crandall (Texas) ATH Samuel Omosigho is much more intriguing than I initially thought. Early on, Omosigho looked like a wide receiver. As a junior, he had 41 receptions for 803 yards and seven touchdowns. He was 6-foot-1, and below 200 pounds. He was sought after but not necessarily a hot commodity. Now, Omosigho has grown quite a bit. There were even some phrases of “grown man” being thrown around his games this weekend. He now measures in at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds with a well built frame. He now projects as a linebacker. In his junior season, he had 89 tackles and two sacks, and now he is even better suited for the position after his growth.
Michigan has not had much communication with Omosigho lately but I do think he would be an interesting option to look at should they choose. He is still very smooth at wide receiver and has good hands. With his bigger mass, he is now even now more physically imposing in his routes. At linebacker, he showed the skillset to cover running backs and some of the bigger bodies inside. He is not the level of dual athlete as Jacobe Johnson or Nyckoles Harbor, but he does provide some intrigue at two positions.
