Michigan basketball: Freshmen, transfer jersey numbers, roster updates

The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball program released its official updated roster for the 2025-26 season this week with jersey numbers and measurements for the squad.
There is no shortage of new faces in the program this year, headlined by Yaxel Lendeborg, a talented power forward and the No. 1 player in this year’s transfer portal cycle. The graduate will wear No. 23 at Michigan this season.
Other transfers include junior guard Elliot Cadeau (No. 3), junior center Aday Mara (No. 15) and sophomore forward Morez Johnson (No. 21).
The freshman numbers have been handed out, too. The class includes guard/forward Ricky Liburd (No. 0), guard Trey McKenney (No. 1), guard/forward Winters Grady (No. 10) and center Malick Kordel (No. 32).
As far as weights go, the most notable change comes in the form of a weight gain for Mara, who is up 15 pounds from his last listed weight at UCLA (240 pounds) last season.
Michigan also posted a Wednesday morning video that included a handful of standing vertical jumps, including Gayle (31.5 inches), Liburd (30) and Johnson (29.5).

Head coach Dusty May spoke to the media this week and discussed the expectations the group has coming off a productive offseason on the heels of a Big Ten Tournament title and trip to the Sweet Sixteen last season.
“Hopefully I’m here at Michigan for a long time,” May said. “So I probably will be up here with an optimistic outlook every year going into the season. We get to choose our players. So hopefully we’re not choosing guys that we don’t like or we don’t believe in or that we don’t want to coach.
“So by nature, I’m going to be optimistic, but I like our team. This group and the three, two or three workouts that we’ve had, let’s say the majority of our practice, we’ve had one or two guys banged up. Like I said, one guy’s still not here yet. They seem to be a competitive group. They came in better shape than we anticipated and we have a lot of weapons.
