Newsstand: Juwan Howard reacts to win over Indiana

Michigan basketball moved to 9-7 on the season following a dominant 80-62 victory at Indiana on Sunday afternoon. The win was met with praise from its head coach.
“I’m just so proud of how our team competed today,” Howard said after the game. “They’ve been competing all year. There’s nothing like coming on the road and getting a road victory in a tough environment. We’re going to continue to go back in the gym each and every practice and see how we can grow, but it was beautiful to see all the contributions coming from everyone that touched that floor.

Howard said that Michigan is thriving off of simply enjoying showing up to the court every day.
“I’ll tell you this: Enjoy what you’re doing,” he said. “Don’t get into coaching right now during a pandemic. It’s very challenging. Every coach, every player is getting uncomfortable during this stretch for the last couple of years, but I’m proud of how our young men have really banded together despite a lot of the uncomfortable moments, finding ways to stay together, stay positive and enjoying this college experience the best way they can.
“What’s best about it all is they’re playing basketball, something they love to do. It’s good therapy. It’s very therapeutic for each and every one of us. Coaching is beautiful, seeing these young men enjoying the process.”

Michigan basketball quote of the day
“This team has a chance to get better and better each and every game. How the roster is designed, we have a mixture of seniors and some freshmen and some sophomores And keep in mind, the sophomores, this is their first time playing on the road with a crowd. Last year it was COVID, and you didn’t have a crowd. All this is somewhat new for a lot of them. At the same time, they’re getting better and better each and every game. I see that. From what we have from the disposition in practice, I’m not surprised we played well today.”
